Mumbai, January 05, 2012: Nikon India, the 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, leaders in imaging technology, showcased its best-in-class product lineup and technological advancements at India’s largest photography exhibition – The CEIF & Photofair 2012. The exhibition is being held at Bombay Exhibition Grounds [Goregaon East], Mumbai from January 05-08, 2012.

The Nikon India Zone covering over 400 sq. m. was inaugurated by Mr. Hiroshi Takashina, Managing Director, Mr. Sajjan Kumar, General Manager – Imaging, Mr. Jitender Chugh, Deputy General Manager (Sales & Marketing), Nikon India and other senior member from Nikon India were also present during the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, Hiroshi Takashina, Managing Director, Nikon India, said, “We are very excited to be a part of India’s largest photography exhibition as it gives us an opportunity to showcase our latest in technology innovation to amateur and professional photography audiences. Nikon India has seen exponential growth in 2011 and our revenues have increased substantially and we plan to keep the momentum going in 2012.”

“We at Nikon India are not only dedicated to bringing the best of products and technology to our customers, but we are also focused on promoting photography as a culture here in India. Over the past few years the interest in photography has increased many folds and the rise in demand for D-SLR cameras is indicative of this trend. The success of ‘Nikon School’ over the past year reaffirms our belief and commitment towards developing photography as a serious hobby and passion”, he added.

During this mega exhibition the star highlight will be Nikon 1. Nikon 1, a revolutionary new digital imaging system built from the ground up to empower users with new ways to tell stories through photography, driven by imaginative next-generation technology. The new Nikon 1 system is engineered specifically to strike the ultimate balance of performance, intuitive simplicity and portability to chronicle life like never before.  On display are the revolutionary Nikon 1 V1 and J1. These cameras come with unique features such as:

Fastest Autofocus and most focus points in the world: The phase-detection AF, embedded in the newly developed sensor, will track and capture fast-moving subjects in sharp, crystal-clear focus. The focal plane phase-detection AF with effectively positioned 73 points recognizes the moving subject as a plane to ensure that images are captured clearly.

Motion snapshot: When in “Motion Snapshot” mode, the camera not only captures a still image but also a movie vignette. The movie vignette will play back in dramatic, 2.5x slow motion to original BGM allowing users to select the best image.

Smart Photo Selector: With Smart Photo Selector, the camera automatically takes total of 20 shots at a high speed of 30fps. It then automatically selects the most spectacular shot from the series of shots taken.

Full HD Video: The cameras can shoot high-resolution still images, while shooting high-quality, full HD movies (1080/60i) simultaneously. Even while shooting a video, images can be captured in high-resolution without interruption and without changing the mode dial.

The Nikon 1 J1 represents a new category of cameras that challenge conventional thinking, emphasizing a pocketable form factor with unbelievable speed, combined with the high image quality that only Nikon can create. The Nikon 1 V1, the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens camera, is for photo enthusiasts who value versatility and desire a small form factor. The Nikon V1 has added features including a 1.4 million dot high resolution EVF that automatically activates when users raise the camera to their eye. In addition to the high-speed electronic shutter, the magnesium alloy body conceals a high performance mechanical shutter that affords tactile feedback and expanded shooting options. The V1 camera also features Nikon’s new Multi-Accessory Port for attaching options such as the new SB-N5 compact speedlight, or the GP-N100 GPS module. Nikon India is planning to launch this new category of Nikon 1 in March, 2012.

The other zones that Nikon will be focusing on are as follows:

The D-SLR Zone: For D-SLR cameras showcasing the latest products from Nikon – The D3S, D300S, D7000, D90, D5100 and D3100. These cameras come with features like D-Movie, High ISO and High speed continuous shooting that lets you capture the decisive moment.

The COOLPIX Zone: For the latest in the point-and-shoot category showcasing the fascinating features like high-zoom, high sensitivity, full HD movie and projector cameras. Also on display will be the all new segment of “All Weather” camera – COOLPIX AW100 for the adventure enthusiasts. On display will be P500, L120, S9100, S8200, S6200, P7100, S6150, P300, S100, S1200pj, S4150, S3100, S2500, L24 and L23.

The Nikon School Zone: For photography enthusiasts where Nikon will be conducting all-day workshops conducted by the best of photography experts. These workshops will be open to everyone who has a keen interest in photography to attend.

To promote photography and provide the desired skills to amateur and professional photographers, Nikon also held workshops in multiple cities through its Nikon School last year, conducting various outdoor workshops. These highly attended workshops covered themes like basic skills in photography, wildlife, nature, landscape, product, and many other genres.

Nikon also exhibited NIKKOR lenses, accessories & their legendary F-mount. In the beginning of October 2011, the total global production of NIKKOR interchangeable lenses for Nikon SLR cameras reached a staggering sixty-five million. Nikon has the longest history among lens mounts for 35mm-format SLR interchangeable cameras. This is the 52nd year of the F mount, first employed on Nikon’s earliest lens-interchangeable SLR camera in June 1959. One of the biggest advantages of lens-interchangeable SLR cameras is that users are able to choose from a larger selection of lenses due to constantly growing array of compatible lenses. Even the latest D-SLRs using the F mount have compatibility with most old F mount lenses. Apart from Nikon, no other maker has been able to sustain its original lens mount for such an extraordinary period.
