NIKKOR expands its versatile and vast range of cutting-edge technology with a new, improved telephoto lens
NEW DELHI, 11 July 2017 – Nikon India, 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, leaders in imaging technology, which recently completed a milestone of 10 years’ presence in India, is pleased to announce the new AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR to its existing collection of lenses. With approximately 4.3x telephoto zoom, the lens covers a broad range of focal lengths up to 300mm when used with an FX-format camera. The new lens is also designed with a stepping motor to provide fast, quiet and smooth autofocus (AF) drive for superior photographs.
Commenting on the launch, Kazuo Ninomiya, Managing Director, Nikon India said, “We are pleased to launch the brilliantly designed AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR. This lens is the manifestation of our aim to constantly reinvent to suit the varied requirements of our consumers. This lens has exciting features which are both useful as well as easy to operate. As we continue to innovate our photography devices and make them more user-friendly, we aim to offer better and more technologically advanced range of products to all enthusiasts. At Nikon, we believe that there are always new arenas to be explored so that our consumers receive the most refined photography experience.”
“The new NIKKOR lens will be a reliable asset with smooth functioning to the users’ photography kits. With a wide focal length range of 70-300 mm, the lens will be highly efficient for exquisite telephoto photography. It also allows users to easily shift through various AF drives which come handy to shoot sports activities, adventure safaris, nature photography and lots more. Users who are always on the lookout for fascinating journeys are sure to find this product unswerving”, said Sajjan Kumar, Senior Vice President, Corporate Sales and Strategy, Nikon India Pvt. Ltd.
From intense sport competitions to outdoor zip lining and even white-water rafting, the latest NIKKOR telephoto lens is equipped with Vibration Reduction (VR) function that provides a level of compensation equivalent to a 4.5-stop1 increase in shutter speed. In addition, the SPORT mode normally reserved for super-telephoto lenses has also been built into the VR function. The image displayed in the viewfinder is stabilised so photographers can easily frame the intended shot, even when capturing a subject that is moving rapidly and unpredictably.
Even though the AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR is a telephoto zoom lens that covers a broad range of focal lengths up to 300mm, its meticulously crafted lightweight design provides a weight of approximately 680g2 to give it superior portability, and enable nimble, hand-held telephoto photography. Resistance to dust and drip was considered with the design of this lens, as was the photographer’s comfort and ease of use when a smooth operational feel was achieved for the focus and zoom rings. When used with a DX-format camera, the lens supports a maximum focal length equivalent to 450mm (with conversion to 35mm format), making it easy to utilise the agility of the DX-format DSLR to further enjoy telephoto photography.
• Clarity in range: Pick up the lens for a sporting event or a trip to the safaris, and enjoy high-magnification telephoto photography in a range of 70-300mm focal length that comes with a minimum focus distance of 1.2m and a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.25x. Achieve sharp and striking shots with the Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) lens element that suppresses chromatic aberration for superior optical performance; images of a kayaking adventure under the bright afternoon sun will not disappoint.
• Smooth operator: Enjoy quiet and smooth AF control that does not compromise on its speed with the adoption of a stepping motor for the AF drive operation. NORMAL and SPORT modes built into the lens’ VR mechanism offers vibration compensation with an effect equivalent to a shutter speed of 4.5 stop1 faster for greater control. Increasing the functionality of the lens is the electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism, ready to ensure precise aperture control as one captures the features of an adrenaline-filled tennis player in a match or the endearing sight of a herd of elephants by the glow of the setting sun.
• Practicality focused: Knowing that photographers of the AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR would be out in varying conditions; this lens is also designed with consideration of dust and drip resistance. Complementing the resilient form is comfort with focus and zoom rings that smoothly rotate for operation ease and handling.
